  • Responsibilities

    Schedule:     Full-time (40 hours per week, rotating schedule on weekends)




    The Nursing Unit Manager will supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of our 2nd Floor Skilled Nursing Unit. The Unit Manager leads in accordance with the current federal and state regulations and JCAHO standards, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.


    • Provide overall day to day oversight and management to the unit
    • Become knowledgeable and ensure compliance with Department of Public Health rest home regulations and requirements
    • Manage all admissions, discharges and transfers from the unit to include patient assessment, clinical documentation and required communication
    • Provide direct nursing patient care for the unit during scheduled work time
    • Assist the Director of Nursing and the Nursing Supervisor in directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing activities in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility
    • Make recommendations to assist the nursing service department in meeting the day-to-day needs of the resident
    • Assist in developing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the residents' total care needs
    • Participate in the home's surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Administrator or Director of Nursing
    • Provide nursing oversight in the dining area as may be assigned by the director of nurses
    • Report problem areas to the DON. Assist in developing and implementing corrective action
    • Keep the DON informed of the status of residents and other related matters through written/oral reports
    • Monitor medications passes and treatment schedules to ensure that medications are being administered as ordered and that treatments are provided as scheduled
    • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information
    • Participate as a member of the nursing leadership team
    • Other duties as directed by the Director of Nursing


    • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) preferred or Licensed Practical Nurse
    • Current CPR certification
    • Knowledge of standard nursing practice, state regulations and the Nurse Practice Act
