  • Responsibilities

    To provide activities that include, but are not limited to, physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual / educational and social interests.  It is also the responsibility of the activity assistant to invite and encourage residents to participate in group activities offered in the facility.

     

    • To follow the daily activity calendar events scheduled.
    • To invite and / or encourage residents to participate in daily activities.
    • To provide alternatives to those residents not wishing to participate in the group activities through 1:1 programs.
    • Facilitate groups with motivation and creativity so that residents are participating in functional and worthwhile programs.
    • Prepare for the daily events / activities and bring all needed materials.
    • Assist with planning development of the monthly activity calendar.
    • Assist with and attend special events/programs.
    • Must be kind, compassionate creative and enjoy working with the senior population.
    • Some nights and weekends may be required

    Qualifications

    • 2 years of experience in a social or recreation program in a health care setting. Nursing Home dementia experience preferred
    • c.n.a license preferred but not mandatory
