Responsibilities

The Community Liaison (CL) is responsible for generating client referrals from professional referral sources for The Overlook Visiting Nurses Association (OVNA) and Hospice. A CL has healthcare sales and marketing experience and a skillset for developing solid referral relationships in the healthcare field. The Community Liaison is responsible for meeting and or exceeding referral and census goals for assigned territory.

  • Manage and coordinate referrals from providers, facilities or any other referral source
  • Maintain existing and expand new customer base by developing relationships with the following key stakeholders:
    • Hospital and rehab case managers/discharge planners
    • Physicians and physician’s practices
    • Geriatric care managers
    • Elder law attorneys
    • Community agencies
    • Assisted living and memory care communities
  • Provide accurate clinical evaluations and facilitate patient placement based upon clinical services needed, clinical services available, patient/family preference and geographical location
  • Provide all necessary clinical documentation, health, financial and other pertinent information to Central Intake promptly and accurately
  • Understand assigned territory and how to cultivate new business and nurture existing accounts. Recognize barriers to referrals, importance of relationship development and respond accordingly to achieve desired results
  • Follows market trends in territory and responds preemptively to market changes
  • Organizes in-services and presentations to promote and educate current and potential referral sources about OVNA and Hospice
  • Keeps accurate records and logs of all referrals and admissions, NTUCs and patient activity in accordance with statistical and regulatory requirements
  • Pre-plan weekly marketing activities in accordance with a monthly marketing plan
  • Meets or exceeds weekly, monthly and quarterly goals established by manager
  • Maintains and monitors spending within budgeted expense accounts
  • Coordinates and attends related trade shows, conferences, and events
  • Rotates holiday coverage as requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public relations/marketing or health care related field
  • Minimum of five years of sales and marketing experience working in a health care field. Experience screening in a home care or hospice setting a plus
  • Highly organized, strategy driven, flexible and possess the ability to understand and act accordingly to market variables
  • Must have the ability to interact with all customers, both internal and external with the professionalism and diplomacy necessary to portray OVNA and Hospice in a positive manner
  • Must possess superlative communication and interpersonal skills across all levels while maintaining sensitivity to patient/family needs
  • Must have general computer skills
  • Valid MA driver’s license and reliable transportation
