The Fitness Assistant will be responsible for providing assistance to clients and residents within the MHS Fitness Center, as well as off–site programs as scheduled, needed and assigned.  To have an understanding of our equipment, routines and programs in order to assist clients with safe and effective programs.


  • To provide daily support and assistance to clients in the fitness center.
  • To understand fitness program prescriptions and / or plans.
  • To assist with client documentation regarding payment, purchases, expiration dates and program review / updates.
  • Maintain client and resident documentation.
  • Answer phone, relay messages and schedule appointments. 
  • Instruct exercise groups as scheduled and / or assigned.
  • Conduct 1:1 appointments when scheduled and / or assigned.
  • Orient / train new clients and / or employees on the proper use of equipment.
  • To transport residents to and from programs.
  • To identify exercises and muscles.
  • To adjust and maneuver seat placements.
  • To walk and move frequently throughout facility / campus.
  • Clean and wipe down all equipment and sweep floors in the MHS Fitness Center.
  • Responsible for misc. equipment utilized on and off campus.
  • Perform various clerical duties as needed and / or assigned by supervisor.
  • Provide weekend (Saturday) coverage for Fitness Center on a rotating basis
  • Provide room coverage and support during call outs, vacations or emergencies.
  • Provide assistance to the VP of MHS Fitness / Programming as needed.


  • High School Diploma
  • Certification in group instruction or personal trainer and / or hands on training in related health field
  • Valid MA Drivers License
